My students are a diverse group of mostly underprivileged children. Seventy percent of the students at our school are from military families who live in base housing adjacent to the school. Twenty percent of our students have special needs and a percentage of our students are bussed to our school from the inner city.
I teach middle school PE and find that most of my students have not had formal instruction in PE up to this point. I am teaching my students basic skills as well as the rules and strategies of sports. I am also working with my students to build social skills that will help them in all areas of life. Team building, cooperative behavior and good sportspersonship are a huge part of my PE program.
