"One day a flexible seating plan will just be called "The classroom"."
Students in the elementary setting thrive academically when learning is made to be fun. Part of their engagement is increased when they are able to choose some aspects of their environment every day. I plan to implement a flexible seating chart in my classroom in order to give my students this daily choice.
In my large classroom, I have experimented with different desk formations, but believe that a flexible seating plan will increase my students' engagement and therefore education more than moving around my 27 desks.
I also have several students who learn better when they are able to move. Having options such as an activity table, exercise balls and wiggly stools help these students pay attention to the content of what they are learning.
