My students are responsible for setting up and managing their small coffee business in the school building, which is such a fantastic way for them to learn and internalize new skills! My students make and sell a variety of cold beverages ranging from ice coffee, ice green or lemon tea. The students brew and seep the coffee and teas themselves. This gives them real life experience of actually working in a coffee shop.
When working the coffee cart, we use all kinds of visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and tactile strategies to meet their learning needs.
The students also have to check their inventory to make sure they have enough supplies for their orders. Students will practice social skills while interacting with customers of the coffee cart. They will also learn how to take money and give change while delivering the coffee. This project will address each student鈥檚 specific IEP goals, both academic and functional.
