I've been teaching with the same microscopes for thirteen years. I would like to eventually replace them all. The microscopes are much older than thirteen, mostly likely 20+ years old. My students use microscopes in four different units: structure of cells, bacteria, botany, and cell division. Students get excited and curious about microorganisms when they use the microscopes, but become easily frustrated with the objects quickly shift out of focus (mechanism in the stage is old and loose). If I could replace one microscope at a time with something more modern, that would benefit my students greatly and encourage their love of science. Thank you.
