My students attend a Title 1, high poverty, very diverse public school in California, where about half of the students receive reduced price or free lunches. We're an overflow school, so students are constantly coming and going and their reading levels are highly varied. My classroom alone has students reading at levels from Kindergarten to 4th grade.
Third grade is an enormous year for children! They are no longer learning to read- they are reading to learn. We therefore need lots of leveled supplies and differentiated texts and work.
