Walk into Mrs. O'Neil's classroom and you will discover a room full of bright and driven 2nd graders. Though on the outside you may not see it, many of them face challenges in their home lives that you cannot even begin to imagine. My 20 students are just a small portion of the 1200+ K-8 students that our district educates every day. Coming from a community where many of them are qualified for free or reduced lunch and live below the poverty level, these kiddos are driven to succeed. School has become their safe haven and the place where they can blossom and truly be who they are without having to hide their insecurities and differences. Our classroom is a place where we accept differences and embrace those things that make us who we are. I truly am blessed to get to prepare these kids for 3rd grade and am honored to have them in my classroom.
