My school classroom is a place where all students are made to feel welcome. I do my best to create an environment that is safe for all students to learn and to engage in the subject matter. I love teaching high school kids and think that Social Studies classes are great in helping students acquire not just knowledge, but also critical thinking skills and self-confidence.
I am the advisor for the Close Up club at school. The students in the club spend a week studying government (not being a tourist!) with other students from around the country. Going to Washington, DC, is an exciting experience for my California high school students. When they return, they feel energized about their role in society and proud of their knowledge of our government. They also return with a greater understanding of the variety of experiences of teens across the country.
