In my first grade classroom we are 1-to-1 with Chromebooks through a Title I grant, but we don't have enough headphones for every student. This means that we can't take full advantage of using the programs on the Chromebooks.
My classroom is 1-to-1 with Chromebooks. Allowing each student to have a pair of headphones would allow the students to understand and complete differentiated tasks independently. Some lessons may require them to watch a video, play an educational game, read a book online, or record a video. Some students can use a program like Imagine Learning to help them learn the English language. Other students enjoy listening to books being read on Storia. Other students love recording videos explaining their answers with Flipgrid. The possibilities are unlimited if each student had a set of headphones. However, without headphones my students are unable to access the technology or engage in the full experience.
