I am teaching Advanced Physics to a group of bright and talented 9th graders, and Physics to two classes of 11th graders. I plan to incorporate technology, such as 3D printing, robotics, and laboratory sensors into the curriculum.
My students are from low-income families, receiving free or reduced lunch. (About 80% of all students at the school are from low-income families.) However, all students are expected to go through a rigorous high school curriculum, to be well prepared for college.
Our school is an AVID National Demonstration School, which means that all students are well versed in academic skills, habits, and attitude. The high school just graduated its second senior class this Summer (2017), so the high school is quite new and is growing. Thus, there is a need to obtain better and more equipment for students to complete activities and projects that are aligned to the NGSS (Next Gen. Science Standards).
