All of my students will be able to access the Ipad to play math and reading games as well as read books aloud. Ipads are great for students with Autism. They react well to them. My students need games and activities that focus on the alphabet, letter recognition, and writing, as well as math manipulatives to explore with at Learning Center time. Our students will use these materials to explore their ability through building, drawing, counting, making letters and sounds, and then words!
My students have a hard time with pencil pushing and they need more hands-on learning tools. We have chrome books that have worked well but the keyboard plays a big role in meltdowns due to not being able to work the chrome book correctly. I could download apps for various math practice skills for a math center, which would allow me to have activities for both my highest performing and most struggling students.
Our classrooms are not yet at the level technologically to meet their needs as learners. This grant will help to close that gap just a little bit more.
