Making learning fun and meaningful is no easy task with teenagers. Student engagement is challenging in an environment where students struggle to find their place in the world. That's where the QBALL Throwable Microphone comes in. This compact device allows teachers and students to interact academically and socially. It contains a microphone, allowing students to be heard above the typical din of the school environment. Further, the device is made of a flexible foam material, all but guaranteeing every student -- regardless of their agility level -- is able to participate.
Ultimately, the device is a means to invite students to participate in the learning process. The QBALL can be used for so many facets of learning: vocabulary instruction, assessment review and preparation, facilitating open-ended questions regarding informational text, even social conversations about the school environment. Using the QBALL can aid in reinforcing academic concepts as well as sharpening hand-eye coordination and developing critical student-teacher-student relationships. In short, the device can ensure all students in my classroom have a ball!
