In order for my students to become successful readers, they must first see what good reading looks like and hear what good reading sounds like as well as increase their vocabulary. Reading has become their favorite pass time. They have 3 opportunities to practice independent reading in their day. First, they can read their favorite book to a friend. Second, they can curl up in the library with their favorite book and read alone, or they can listen to reading on the computer.
This project will do just that! The classroom headphone set will allow students to listen to plain old good reading from the SAG-AFTRA Foundation鈥檚 award-winning children鈥檚 literacy website, Storyline Online and other websites. It will help them increase their vocabulary with the use of music and the natural ability children have to memorize song lyrics with a year-long subscription to Flocabulary.
