In a world of developing 21st-Century learners, funding this project will assist students in accessing these skills using Kindles. The Kindle Fire will also reach students at many different reading levels. Students will be able to read books in our curriculum silently, while others will be able to have the text read TO them - a feature of the Kindle!
The Kindles will allow students to better prepare for the future, while also giving them access to the English curriculum. With the increasing use of tablets and technology in college and the work force, students will have access to these technologies earlier so they can familiarize themselves with the technology. Too many students go to college and are unprepared for the tech used by instructors. Being able to access a Kindle is a small part of lessening this process. The same can be said for the work-force. The use of tablets as a form of gathering information is increasing. Using the Kindle will further students' familiarity with this type of technology.
Using the Kindle for simply reading is a great opportunity. It will give so many more students ability to find success in comprehension based on the features of the device. However, as I have noted, the use of this technology has other benefits that are more applicable to the future success of all students.
