These diverse literature titles are important additions to any young adult classroom library. With characters that face challenges and overcome adversity, my students will learn about qualities such as strength, resilience, tolerance, love, and positivity.
I want my classroom library to mirror the world that my students may experience. Having characters with traits that may be similar to them will help my students to understand that they are important and valued members of society. Reading about characters and events that they have never experienced will also give them valuable background knowledge that they can use to make real-world connections. I also want my students to engage themselves in self-selected independent reading of books that will help them increase their vocabulary through a variety of genres. Many of the students throughout our high school stop by our room to see new additions. Please help my class by providing these awesome titles for our classroom library!
