My students need their own books to help them continue their love for reading. Due to closures, most of my students are struggling to find books to read. In funding this project, you will be putting new, high interest books into avid readers hands and will be gifting them the joy of new reading adventures.
While some of my students may have access to digital books, nothing can take the place of a paperback book in their hands. My project will give each student 3 books for them to keep. As a class, we will read "Number the Stars" together (via a video platform) as part of our "Historical Fiction" unit. The other 9 titles will be distributed based on student interest.
The chosen titles represent the wide range of interest my readers have. Reader levels are varied, and I chose titles that will allow each student to read a "just right" book. My students will be excited to own their own books and will be able to continue reading during the pandemic school closures.
