Many of the programs we use on the iPads with students require them to listen carefully to be able to choose words that have common sounds or start with the same blends or have the same endings. If they are unable to hear due to classroom distractions, they are not able to effectively use these programs.
Most of my students come to third grade lacking phonics skills they should have mastered in earlier grades. These programs tend to be necessary to help fill these gaps as one-on-one time is very difficult when you have 20 different students all with different needs. These headphones would allow them to be able to focus on what they are working on and not what their neighbor is saying or doing on their iPad during the enrichment times where they need to be laser-focused on their tasks.
