"Pio, pio, pio," is the sound that baby chicks make when they're hungry or cold. It's also part of the lyrics to a popular Spanish song for children.
Hola! I teach an amazing group of first graders learning English as a Second Language in a Bilingual classroom setting. My students are native Spanish speakers and are beginning to acquire English both socially and academically. Our school is a Title I school with all children receiving free lunch and breakfast. It is located in a high-need community with very few resources. Recently, the school district announced a "miscalculation" in funds and budget cuts are expected to worsen.
