I currently teach in a learner active technology infused classroom. Unfortunately, my hard working students are limited to working at hard, uncomfortable desks. My students are brilliant, artistic, brave explorers who deserve a classroom that is conducive to learning through exploration! Many of my students will sit on the cold, hard floor when reading, on top of a hard desk, and many will fight to sit in my rolling desk chair. They just want to be comfortable while they travel to a new world while absorbing a novel!
While working in groups and exploring new ideas, my students currently have to push at least 4 different sized desks together. They do this happily, but I can see the problems they encounter getting up and down while moving to "check out" each others hard work. These are kids who will learn no matter what, but I would love to see what they are capable of if given the proper equipment!
