A special education environment, at every age, must be filled with high interest activities, organized learning materials, and opportunities for play and exploration. We are dedicated to creating the best possible learning environment for our students and giving them what they need to make developmental progress. Developmentally disabled students make great developmental progress when the correct tools and methods are in place.
Through several years of work with developmentally delayed students, it has been observed that traditional paper and pencil tasks do not actively engage students with sensory issues and developmental delays. Materials must be colorful, joyful, organized and hands-on. Choice time, floor time, time for sensory integration, and adapted class materials like task boxes are critical components of the students' learning day.
