The Sea of Learning is my exceptional education unit. My team educates children who share intellectual disabilities and language deficits but whose challenges extend to Cerebral Palsy, Blindness, Deafness, Downs Syndrome, and Autism. My mission is to provide the individualized instruction that these K-5 students deserve. Although the students in this classroom range in ages from 5 to 12, their abilities levels are more like that of 2-3 years old. They need extensive support in social skill development, fine motor development as well as gross motor development. My kids require special supports in sensory integration. While the students in this setting are in a regular elementary school they still need much more support than what the general education environment affords them. My students require modified curricula and resources beyond what our school system can provide which is why I turn to donor support.
