I believe that teaching is more than simply an act of generosity, or even a passion. For me, teaching is the cornerstone of my commitment to social change and justice. I believe deeply that all of my students can, and will, graduate from college and succeed in the careers of their choice- regardless of whether they enter my classroom several years behind grade level or lack the material resources and support that their peers in wealthier areas possess. Working in low-income schools, I seek nothing short of the empowerment of my students, so they can grow to be creative and critical thinkers prepared to enact meaningful change in their own lives and their communities.
