I AM SOMEBODY.. this is my classroom motto. My classroom includes a range of socio economic students ranging from homelessness to students who come from upper socio economic families. I try to instill in all my students that no matter what life they lead they are somebody worth teaching and caring about. All my students come into 1st grade with a love of listening to stories. Unfortunately most don't have the skills to read independently or the money to buy books. We are a public school in CA and I want to level the playing field by providing students with individual CD players and books on CD so they can choose a book and read/listen independently.
