My students have emotional impairments, they often miss class time due to behavior. Part of my job is to instruct in a way to help them stay in class and be comfortable. Many students have other existing diagnosis that are ignored due to the sometimes aggressive and severe behavior. Some of these issues are brought on by needs that are not addressed in our classroom such and sounds, technology and a need for movement. Many students are also treated for ADHD and if I can offer them a way to engage and stay in class such as using an app on an IPad many trips out of the classroom can be avoided. My students really are great kids, EI kids often get a bad and negative reputations, they are individuals that are dealing with more than out adult minds can handle most of the time. Many students struggle with abuse, poverty, and mental illness to name a few. Every day is different.
