Our students love to go to the beaches, play sports, and walk downtown. Our community is small enough for students to grow up together from elementary to high school and beyond. Our student body of 600 middle school students, grades 6th, 7th, and 8th, come from many different backgrounds and ethnic groups. Our town has a university, and we also have fertile fields where the parents of our students grow and bring in from the fields strawberries, artichokes, and other produce. Our students love to take part in after school activities that our school offers for free: such be in your own band, hands-on science, bicycle building, creative writing, and drama. Recently all the students made posters promoting friendship and to be allies to someone else in need. After a recent death of a high school student, our community began a club called "Peace in the Streets" to build bridges between different cliques, gangs, and student groups. Our students come together to learn and grow.
