Students in my classroom all have individual needs varying from mild speech articulation delays to severe communication disorders that involve both the ability to comprehend and express themselves effectively. I use literacy to allow for rich experiences in which we work to visualize what is happening in the stories to build vocabulary and understanding. I use the same literary experiences to provide context to my students working on improving their speech sounds.
