Special Education students quite often need to work on fine-motor skills and increase finger strength. Most of my students need to work in this area daily. Bringing sensory toys makes this a fun experience that will increase fine motor strength, allow students to write easier and be able to open packages, manipulate clothing by themselves.
Sensory experiences are great strategies for de-escalating big feelings. These will offer yet another way for my students to regulate their emotions. We have play dough and a small sand box and my students have done really well. We would be very excited to expand our sensory options in our class!
