My classroom is full of eager high school students who are working to acquire computer and business skills to begin their first part-time job or participate at internship programs related to career pathways.
Technology is constantly changing and students need the best possible resources available to them. The pandemic has reminded both teachers and students to be open to learning from a variety of different teaching styles and methods as lessons accommodate for both in-person and distance learning.
My project:
Being able to easily share lessons and interact with both in-person and virtual students as I present in the classroom is essential for my students to continue to develop the skills that will help them to be successful in their academics. Portable equipment in the classroom would allow me to integrate smartboard activities and maintain student involvement with their assignments.
Throughout the school year, students begin preparing their resumes, goals, cover letters and other documentation to place in their job portfolios. Documentation is placed in sheet protectors to allow the student to easily modify and update their work as needed. The ultimate goal it to have a printable portfolio to present during their mock interview and internship process. Being able to have access supplemental materials would allow me to supply students with assignments related to their chosen career pathway that would otherwise be unavailable.
My ultimate goal is for all of my students to learn and show growth in their academic and social skills to be prepared and determine their role in the workplace.
