Speed Stacking is something that has become more popular over the past decade. Cup stacking stimulates both sides of the brain due to using both hands at the same time. In a class like mine, it is typical to see children right or left side dominant. By incorporating Speed Stacks into my curriculum I am incorporating stimulation of both sides of the brain as well as development of both sides of the body at once. Also, with a gymnasium being so large and a desirable place for gatherings, testing, plays, etc. PE is often moved into a classroom or science lab when these events occur. Instead of grasping at ways to keep students engaged and moving in a small space for 45 min, these Speed Stacks will keep them engaged, motivated, and moving the whole time. The students will even be begging me to stay longer and asking me in the hallway if we鈥檙e going to stack again soon. From experience, this is also something my special needs students grasp extremely quickly and enjoy endlessly.
