Raising animals is a great way to teach students about responsibility and compassion. Students need to realize that they don鈥檛 have to live on a farm to raise animals. Small-scale farming helps us as humans to be self-sufficient. During Covid-19 students lost their connection with other people. Sometimes that connection can be filled with animals. I want my students to know not only the lifecycle of a chicken but the miracle of life.
Hatching chickens will bring great joy to my class!
Students will also learn how to track development, chart data, and grade eggs. This will help with the contest through FFA. As an Agriculture Education teacher, my goal is to share my passion for farming with my students. I know these tools will help me achieve that!
Using the incubators and Candelas will help the student see the growth and development of the chickens from inside the eggs. They will be able to chart changes and growth.
