These kits come with multisensory materials for learning the essentials of handwriting. Students will learn the correct placement of letters on handwriting lines, proper spacing, and the difference between upper and lowercase letters. The program provides a quick 10-minute daily lesson that will reinforce not only handwriting, but also aide with future reading and language skills.
As the world moves more towards technology, students have less handwriting opportunities. Research shows that handwriting activates the brain and helps with retention of information as well as contributing to reading fluency. When students learn to write, they visualize the letters and learn their sounds. Often times, the first words students learn to read are also the words they know how to write (i.e. cat, dog, mom, dad, etc.). The early years of handwriting practice are the most crucial which is why I would like to bring this program to my classroom.
