These resources will allow first graders the opportunity to cover standards that are required in a fun and engaging way. We all know students’ work ethic increases when allowed to work in small groups, and many of these resources allow for collaboration. Also, since Covid closed schools down for months at a time, many students have had a hard time getting back to school life. Having access to these resources will allow them the freedom of remediating at their own pace with help from peers along the way when needed.
The Magna tiles will help students with spelling, as I plan to use them for students to practice repeating the sounds in a word, giving each sound a tile, and writing each sound on a tile, then connecting the tiles to create a complete word.
The touch read phonics word match set will help build on literacy skills by incorporating multi-sensory work, which is especially important in early childhood development.
The addition learning lock and unlock it match sets will allow students the opportunity to engage in different ways to explore basic math by using both sides of their brain, while working through problems in order to reach a goal.
The power pens will allow small group collaboration for literacy and math while offering a fun way to practice with friends.
The science stations will help my students to identify problems and discover new and inventive ways to solve these problems. As first graders, it is important to start learning about cause and effect. Science is an excellent way to promote that skill, and it allows the students to begin working through problems on their own.
These resources will allow students to collaborate, interact, and actively problem solve while enhancing literacy, science, and math skills.
