To help my students learn amid the pandemic, I am requesting materials that allow my students to solve problems, make decisions, learn teamwork, and express their creativity.
Choice is a crucial component in my classroom. Lessons are structured to encourage and support students in taking control of their own learning. To make upcoming units more engaging, my students would love to have the resources they need to build a variety of STEM projects. Having a variety of materials for construction is so important.
My older students have three projects to complete during the semester. The first project is to design and build a Ferris wheel to attract people to our area. The second project has students researching trebuchets and then planning and constructing a working small-scale trebuchet. For the third project, students are challenged to create a mini miniature 3-hole golf course including a creative theme and traps for the unwary golfer.
Younger students might build a rainforest, create a latch for the three bear鈥檚 door, build a new bed for Goldilocks, or design a turkey trap.
To bring my dream learning activities to life, students need access to materials that will help breathe life into their designs. We are requesting spools, glue sticks, skewers, straws, pony beads, craft sticks, brads, tape, and poster board.
