As a result of the pandemic and virtual learning, my students have had very little hands-on experience in the classroom. I am asking for a hydroponic system and supplies to introduce my students to a new and fascinating method of growing their own food.
Hydroponics will also expose my students to STEM in multiple ways, from understanding how a sustainable system works to grow plants and calculating correct nutrients and water levels, to using problem-solving skills to discover possible issues with plants and making changes based on their observations. With a hydroponic growing system and planting materials, my students will see the different ways seeds will become plants, and then they will be able to sample some of the herbs and vegetables they have grown. This will definitely be a hands-on learning experience they won鈥檛 forget!
These tools would provide my students with a hands-on experience that will pair very well with what they are learning this year in 5th grade, which will help make retaining this information easier and much more fun! I would love to have the tools to give these amazing kids some memorable learning opportunities this year and in the years to come!
