In response to COVID-19, I supply my students with their own whiteboards and dry erase markers to be kept in their personal supply bin, so they are not sharing supplies.
My students use the dry erase boards and markers daily for phonics lessons. I use the approach of "I do", "we do", "you do" as taught through LETRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling). The whiteboards allow me to see exactly what the students are doing and if they are decoding their words correctly.
By adding the magnetic letters, my students can manipulate the letters on their whiteboards giving them another multisensory approach to phonics instruction.
