Because things have changed due to COVID-19, we as educators need to adjust how we run our classrooms. This grant will help provide necessary supplies to help assist students who may struggle to get the supplies they need to be successful. This grant will also help facilitate healthy social interactions among students while still working with subject based skills.
I have requested 9 games that are word-based games to provide opportunities to interact with each other in an entertaining and appropriate manner. Students have lost a lot of social interactions with their peers due to COVID and spend much of their day stuck behind screens and worksheets. I would like to be able to provide a break from the monotony and encourage them to engage with each other while continuing to work with new or existing skills.
I am also wishing for 3 curriculum workbooks. These books will help provide some supplemental writing activities for students so they can continue building on the skills they are learning in my class throughout the year.
My list also includes pencils, ink, and white boards that will be used in my classroom. I have requested pencils as I always provide them when students do not have any. Printer ink will allow me to provide students with printed copies of assignments or instant reports when students come to class without their district provided laptop. The white boards will provide a new way for students to interact with each other and myself as we begin exploring new ways of learning writing skills.
While each of these requests may seem like separate projects, they will all work toward enriching the learning experiences of the 7th grade students that come into my classroom. I want to see students grow and become well-rounded individuals.
