Flexible seating would allow students to have ownership over their learning. With flexible seating, students are able to come in and choose their own seat for the day. Of course, there are rules and procedures put into place with the flex seating. Students will choose a "smart seat". They will pick a seat where they know they will do their best, stay focused, and be comfortable.
If students have the opportunity to make choices of their own, they are more likely to be engaged throughout the day. The products I have selected for this project would give students more options with their flexible seating. The pie ottoman would not only be a soft, comfortable spot for them to sit, but it would also allow for collaboration among them. The round floor cushions could be used not only on the floor, but also in chairs if the students would rather sit at a desk. The portable desk allows them to move and sit anywhere in the classroom.
I know that if children are given a choice, they are more likely to be engaged and involved. Students should feel as if they have ownership in their learning environment. This project would aid in this and help them to continue to learn and grow.
