As a special education teacher, my students have always been in the at-risk population. Pre-pandemic, these students were already performing below grade level and needed intensive interventions to close the achievement gap. These are also the students on whom COVID-19 has had the greatest impact; their struggles in the classroom were magnified in distance learning and they were not able to access virtual learning as well as their non-disabled peers.
My students, even more so than their typically developing peers, need multi-sensory instruction in order to meet their differing learning styles. The items requested in this project will allow me to meet their individual needs, and will be used in conjunction with the materials I am already teaching with.
