Special education students are unique individual learners. They need to be able to move around and actively engage in their own education. Non-traditional lesson planning is the key to ensuring their success.
These materials will allow us to participate in various hands-on projects and kinesthetic activities. The stand-up tables will be utilized by students that need to have freedom of movement while they work. They will also be our "conversation stations" where students will have short group conversations with one topic per table. Having the large post-it charts on the wall will be a great way to get students up and moving. Each student will write a clue word and draw a picture that helps describe a specific vocabulary word or concept. Having individual dry erase boards will help us do several activities. Students can practice math problems, play science jeopardy, and many other activities. The dry erase pockets will allow us to use classroom sets of assignments and cut down on paper. All of these resources will be enjoyed and used by every student in my class. They will help decrease the learning gaps caused by the pandemic, increase student engagement, and ensure academic progress.
Most of my students come to school without basic supplies on a daily basis. Having pencils, paper, and other classroom supplies will help in this area. Thank you so much for your consideration.
