My special education and speech therapy classroom would run more efficiently and safely by utilizing these new additions. I serve students from age 3-19 years old with a variety of disabilities and developmental levels. Flexible seating is critical for functional and safe learning in my classroom. An Echo Dot will be used as a resource and for a variety of other life skills. All these additions will be effectively utilized in my classroom daily. Flexible seating is critical in my special education classroom. I serve students with a variety of ages and developmental levels at the same time. Flexible seating not only allows for social distancing guidelines to be followed, but also helps separate students into groups based on their ability. Social distancing is critical in my room due to the high number of students that are immune compromised. The two flexible chairs are also important in my classroom due to my students with physical needs. Many of them learn best in positions other than what a classroom chair can provide. A few of my students are also unable to sit up at times due to weakened musculature or seizures. The lap top trays will be utilized in conjunction with the flexible seating. This allows the students to have a place to work and concentrate while away from the worktables and desks. They are also easily cleaned to decrease the spread of illness.
An Echo Dot will be utilized in my classroom as a resource for the students to utilize. It will teach students everyday life skills such as how to dress based on the weather. Time management is also a skill that can be learned by utilizing the Echo Dot. Alarms will be set to help students with transitions from one activity to another.
