Students receive information in so many different ways. Why should we constrict learning math to what鈥檚 on a piece of paper?
Using manipulatives and games will allow my students to learn math in a hands-on manner.
This helps students who don鈥檛 learn well from simply reading or hearing the lesson as well as those that are easily distracted or bored. Being able to see math in action solidifies and reinforces learning.
The pandemic has forced students to try to learn from a distance. They are separated from their teachers and their peers by a screen or an appropriate social distance. These games and manipulatives will allow them more interaction with teachers and classmates, helping them to learn not only math, but social skills as well.
Instead of spending the class staring off into space or struggling to stay awake, I want my students to be engaged in their learning and to leave math class saying 鈥渢hat was fun!鈥
