Many people know that in speech therapy we target clear production of speech sounds (articulation). However, in speech therapy we also target the ability to understand language and communicate thoughts. I have selected an assortment of therapeutic language and articulation materials as well as motivating toys that can be used as reinforcers in the speech therapy classroom. New resources have been neglected over the past couple of years due to the disruptions from Covid.
The super duper articulation card decks included in my request are an essential staple for any speech therapy room. These cards have carefully selected target words to help speech students improve their speech sound deficits. Having these words in cards decks allows us to practice the words in quick drill or fun games that require using the words in sentences.
I've also included some fun following directions language activities that target improving students' abilities to listen and demonstrate understanding of specific language elements (e.g., prepositions, basic concepts, temporal concepts, etc). I can also use these activities in games to help students learn to use these language elements independently to provide directions to their peers. Students love getting to use language functionally in play and to see the outcome when they have been able to clearly express themselves!
Along with these speech therapy specific activities, I have also requested games that can be used as breaks during therapy tasks to keep students engaged and motivated. They love coming to speech therapy when they know they have fun games waiting for them if they work hard on their speech targets!
