Students always want to know how Algebra 2 can be used or how it relates to the "real world". The Oculus Quest 2 provides several virtual reality experiences where students can gain literal hands-on experiences with exponential functions, quadratic functions, linear functions, statistics, and systems of equations in everyday life. Students will be able to see how these mathematical concepts can relate to their everyday life and/or their future career. My school district has been fortunate to have been in-person throughout the majority of this pandemic, but we are still trying to close the gap from the little time that we were out. The attrition rates in math seem to be particularly high, and these thought-provoking games, that align closely with our Oklahoma math standards, will motivate them to learn and hopefully get them back on track sooner.
My students will also enjoy learning with this innovative technology versus a more traditional approach.
