Reading is the foundation to learning. Students who enjoy reading are better equipped to be successful when hardships such as COVID-19 occur. Fostering their enjoyment of reading begins when the students find the genre of books that sparks their interest or imagination.
Having a wide range of book choices gives my students an opportunity to find their passion for reading. As students read more, their reading abilities and strategies will get better. This will help them recover missing or lost skills due to COVID-19, as well as help them make gains in their future education. Acquiring a passion for reading leads to becoming a life long learner.
