Teaching isn鈥檛 easy, especially during a pandemic. There are a lot of students who enter my classroom daily, but do not have a lot of supplies. Providing students with the basic necessities they need is vital to ensure their success.
My fifth graders come to school eager to learn. We have many students and families who are within the poverty line and struggle to provide supplies.
I would love to be able to provide students with basic supplies that they are lacking. Many of our families have multiple kids under one roof, and the pandemic has caused them a lot of hardship. Some of our families are not able to afford the basic classroom supplies list. Students in writing class need pencils, colored pencils, and composition notebooks to keep their writing organized.
COVID has negatively impacted my students emotionally and socially. I am ordering items that will take the stress off of many families by providing them with supplies they may not be able to afford.
I want to continue building a classroom that is not only safe, but inviting and stress-free. This will help many as we navigate learning through a pandemic.
I am also asking for a few books to add to my library and some flexible seating areas to give them more choices as to where to sit. I am also needing to add some storage for students to keep their materials. My classroom is not self-contained, so I teach 4 separate classes. I don鈥檛 have storage for my students to keep their materials, making it difficult for them to carry it with them daily.
My students are kind, generous, and very deserving. Having these supplies will help my students and their families directly!
