Magna-Tiles are fun! Imagine a five year old circling the four-sided shapes on a worksheet. Now imagine that same five year old working with a friend to build a structure with colorful Magnetic shape blocks using only four sided shapes. Which experience will make a lasting impact on their memory? Which will help them develop interpersonal skills, teamwork, and communication skills while learning geometry?
These Magna-Tiles will make our math explorations around shapes exciting and impactful. I can't wait to say to my students, "How can you build a cube? What shapes will you need? Try it! Can you use these blocks to build a sphere? Why or why not? Children will begin using vocabulary like triangle, circle, corner, sides, three dimensional (in Spanish) as they discover rules of geometry with their peers.
