My work based learning class lessons are developed based on students' interests. This year, we were able to take over the school clothes closet and make these clothes available to high school students to take free of charge. We have teachers and members of the community donate clothes. We have a large supply of tee-shirts. A few of my students asked to make these tee-shirts into tee-shirt bags and display in our school store. The process of making these tee-shirt bags will provide my students with work skills such as following multi-steps, working with a team, completing an item within a reasonable time, producing an industry standard item. In addition, by taking these to the school store, we will work on product display and advertising.
This was a request from my students to keep developing their work skills. When the students are invested in a producing a product their attention is easy to keep and it's easy to keep them focused on the process and develop much needed skills.
About my class
