For my classroom, I am requesting an Apple iPad, covers, tablet keyboard, and a tablet tripod head. I would love to use this in my classroom as an instructional tool with my students. I teach a 7th grade computer class and Computer Applications I & II. Even though I am their computer teacher, I believe in incorporating a variety of different subject areas in my teachings. One very important subject I love to incorporate in my lessons is public speaking. I do this by teaching students how to develop presentations using different computer applications. In previous normal years, I would take a day or two after students made their presentations to let the students present them. Last year to make up for time that was lost due to the pandemic, I skipped this step to go on to our next project. This year I am once again requiring students to present their presentations. I will use the iPad and accessories to video students as they present. I plan to then email each of their presentations to the students so they can critique themselves. I want them to also be able to see the progress they are making as public speakers with each new presentation project the students complete. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, our school has started streaming programs, graduations, and student projects on the school Facebook page so parents and grandparents who couldn鈥檛 be there could watch from home. In a small school, teachers wear many different hats. It has become the responsibility of myself and my yearbook staff to video and stream many of these programs. My staff is learning videography skills as a result. This iPad project would benefit my students, because right now we are having to use our own phones.
