My students need props, backgrounds, and character dolls for a stop-motion animation project. To encourage creative, clear storytelling and gain experience using technology, I am planning a unit that challenges my students to become movie makers!
They will tell familiar stories, like fairy tales or folk stories, using the medium of stop-motion animation. But, to do this well, they need wooden peg dolls to create characters, paints, clay and cardboard to make settings, and miniature props to bring their story to life. They will collaborate in teams for the whole project. It is artistic, based in foundational texts, and helps students be better communicators.
