Manipulatives give students hands-on learning. Students who can visualize and move around numbers gain a greater understanding of the concepts. The dinosaur counters will help children add, subtract, and make groups. They can learn the concept of "one more" or "one less" by doing, not just listening.
Students who have to tools they need to "see and touch" math, remember the concepts more readily. The dice help them to count and then think of the number name for the amount. We will use the dry erase makers with the whiteboards to practice writing numbers in the correct form. We use scissors to cut out numbers and paste in our interactive notebooks. We also us markers for the interactive notebooks.
