I am a first-year teacher without the resources and materials to make science come alive for my fourth graders. I have chosen items to help teach fossils, sounds, and energy transfer in a hands-on way. I also added privacy shields to my cart to give students personal space when taking their science assessments. This is when students get excited about learning, and they will make a connection through their personal experience that I can refer to in future lessons.
When students are allowed to immerse themselves into the lesson with the use of hands-on materials and experiments this allows them to have a deeper understanding and develop critical thinking in learning the scientific method.
